Janet K Sherlip

Janet K. Sherlip is a floral and event designer, creative entrepreneur, and community leader based in North Texas. She is the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of JKS by Design, a boutique floral and event design studio known for creating thoughtful, elegant, and emotionally resonant experiences for weddings, nonprofit galas, corporate events, and private celebrations.

Creative Journey and Design Philosophy

Janet’s professional design journey began in New York City’s Chelsea Flower District, where she trained and earned her floral license. Immersed in one of the world’s most influential floral markets, she developed a deep appreciation for refined technique, artistic composition, and the power of flowers to tell a story. When she returned to Texas, she blended that New York sophistication with Southern warmth, creating a signature style that is both classic and deeply personal.

Her work spans custom floral arrangements, event installations, curated floral subscriptions, and hands-on design classes. Janet is known for listening closely to her clients and translating their vision into floral experiences that feel meaningful, intentional, and memorable.

Entrepreneurship and Business Leadership

Under Janet’s leadership, JKS by Design has grown from a passion project into a respected creative studio serving clients across North Texas. The business specializes in bespoke florals, experiential event design, and ongoing floral programs for homes, businesses, and organizations. Strategic partnerships with groups such as the Plano Chamber of Commerce and other civic organizations have helped expand JKS by Design’s impact throughout the region.

Janet is deeply involved in the operational, creative, and relationship-driven side of her business, ensuring that each client experience reflects both artistic excellence and exceptional service.

Community Engagement and Arts Leadership

Beyond her business, Janet is a dedicated advocate for the arts and nonprofit community. She has served in leadership and fundraising roles, including as a National Philanthropy Day Luncheon Chair, and supports numerous charitable and cultural organizations through both sponsorship and in-kind creative services.

She is a member of the Business Council for the Arts’ Leadership Arts Institute Class of 2025–26, where she works alongside regional leaders to strengthen arts engagement and cultural sustainability in North Texas. Janet also currently serves on the Texas Women for the Arts Executive Board as Legacy Vice Chair, helping guide long-term donor engagement and philanthropic strategy in support of arts organizations across the state. She is also active in organizations supporting arts education, historical preservation, and community development.

Personal Approach

Janet’s work is guided by a belief that flowers are more than decoration. They are a way to create connection, honor moments, and bring beauty into everyday life. Her clients know her for her warmth, attention to detail, and commitment to making people feel seen, celebrated, and cared for.

Through JKS by Design and her community leadership, Janet Sherlip continues to blend creativity, generosity, and purpose to elevate both events and the people who gather around them.
